Teaching Fellowships

Fostering excellence in new medical graduates – funding the top students to work as teachers and trainers.

The Hanoon Foundation offers paid teaching fellowships to top medical graduates. This programme began in 2020 and was made available to all four medical schools. Fellows are selected based on the Dean’s recommendation, academic performance, an application form, and an interview conducted by the THF Board. The aim is to foster excellence among new medical graduates by funding the highest-performing students to work as teachers and trainers, ensuring that their knowledge is passed on and amplified among the next generation of medical students.

Fellows commit to ward- or clinic-based teaching at their university for one year and receive a monthly stipend of $800–$1,000. In consultation with the Palestinian medical schools, we began offering these paid teaching fellowships to top graduates from our partnered universities in 2020.

To date, 12 teaching fellows have been sponsored through this programme:

    • In 2020, we supported two fellows from the Islamic University of Gaza (Saleh Eleiwa and Bakr Abo Jarad), along with one fellow from An-Najah University (Hala Qasrawi).
    • In 2021, we supported two additional fellows, Ahmed Elhissi and Saed Owda, from the Islamic University of Gaza.
    • In 2022, we welcomed three more fellows from the Islamic University of Gaza: Abdallah Alwali, Khaled Alsultan and Mosab Samaan.
    • In 2024, we supported two teaching fellows from the Islamic University of Gaza: Othman AlAgha and Ahmad Alhassan.
    • In 2025, we are supporting two additional doctors from Al-Azhar University (Ayda, Zainab), alongside our two current teaching fellows from the Islamic University of Gaza.
