Conference Support – Qatar (April 2025)

With support from the Galilee Foundation, The Hanoon Foundation enabled Othman, a Palestinian junior doctor, to attend the “Rebuilding Higher Education in Gaza” conference in April 2025, held in Doha and organised by Hamad Bin Khalifa University in collaboration with the University of Glasgow.
He presented an oral paper titled “Continuing Medical Education and Clinical Training Amid Conflict: The Resilience of the Faculty of Medicine at the Islamic University of Gaza,” co-authored with colleagues from the Islamic University of Gaza.
Othman shared, “During the conference, I presented a research paper that synthesised the experience of the Faculty of Medicine at IUG in maintaining medical education and clinical training in the present crisis. I also got to interact with inspiring researchers and scholars around the world.”
This opportunity enabled him to share first-hand insights into medical education in Gaza, foster academic collaboration, and advance his professional development, reflecting the Foundation’s commitment to supporting Palestinian medical education.

“With support from The Hanoon Foundation, I had the honour to participate in the “Rebuilding Higher Education in Gaza” conference, held in Doha and organised by the College of Public Policy, HBKU (CPP) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University, in collaboration with the University of Glasgow and several other leading academic institutions.
During the conference, I presented a research paper that synthesised the experience of the Faculty of Medicine at IUG in maintaining medical education and clinical training in the present crisis. This experience not only reflects resilience but also offers an essential model for maintaining education in extreme conditions.
Aside from the presentation, I also got to interact with inspiring researchers and scholars around the world. We discussed how we can further develop this case study into a “Business Continuity Management” model for medical education, something that hopefully can be replicated and implemented at national and regional levels in the future.
Grateful for The Hanoon Foundation for supporting medical education and looking forward to the future.”
Othman
