Manal, Murat, and their local community in Clapton hosted a fundraising Iftar (breaking of the fast) on Sunday 15 March 2026 in support of The Hanoon Foundation. The event also took place on Mother’s Day, adding a special sense of community and appreciation to the evening.
The evening brought together a diverse, multigenerational group of over 100 attendees, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Guests enjoyed delicious homemade Palestinian dishes, alongside live music from talented musicians including Jack Yglesias, Johnny Flynn, and other guest performers.
The event was made possible through the efforts of a dedicated group of volunteers, as well as the support of local businesses and the wider community, who came together to cook, organise, and host the evening.
Held during the month of Ramadan, the event reflected the values of generosity, compassion, and togetherness. It was a celebration of community, where food and music brought people together across backgrounds in support of a shared cause.
Donations are still coming in, and the event has raised £2,885 so far, which we have already received in donations.
We are very grateful to the organisers, volunteers, musicians, venue and everyone who attended and contributed. Your support plays an important role in helping students continue their medical education.
