“I am writing this message as a grateful recipient of your generous donation towards our transport project. As a medical student, it is often challenging to balance academic commitments with financial constraints. However, with your support, we have travelled to our training hospital without worrying about transportation costs. Your contribution has not only eased our financial burden but also given us the opportunity to gain practical experience in a clinical setting. We are confident that this experience will help us become better healthcare professionals and serve the community with dedication and compassion. We appreciate your commitment to improving healthcare services in our community and are honoured to be associated with your organisation. Thank you again for your generosity and support. Best regards,”

Tamer, Fifth-Year Medical Student at IUG.

Testimonial 3

“My name is Heba, a sixth-year medical student at the Islamic University of Gaza. I currently live in Gaza in the north. As part of my fifth-year routines, I visit hospitals in Gaza’s south. It is financially expensive and stressful for me. The portable bus project has contributed to improving our transportation and reducing our financial burden. I thank FQMS on behalf of me and my colleagues in the Faculty of Medicine for its contribution. Best regards,”

Heba, Sixth Year Medical Student at IUG.

Here are some testimonials from students on how they feel about this programme:

“I’m writing this to witness the incredible services provided by the FQMS bus support to IUG medical students. I am sure without the FQMS bus many students will not be able to reach our main training hospital in the south of the Gaza Strip. This is mainly because of financial problems. Without the FQMS bus, most of us will take 3 transport vehicles to reach the hospital, which will be unaffordable and costly, and we most likely will not reach in time. Fortunately, we have this method of transportation that is convenient and always arrives on time. We are grateful to the FQMS for supporting and providing the necessary funds for the bus. We also appreciate Dr Anwar’s and the teaching assistant’s effort in organising the bus work. We hope this facility will remain available in the next years.”

“Thanks for FQMS’s efforts. As you know, we travel to Khan Younis every day to attend medical training sessions at the European Gaza Hospital. The trip is an hour-drive from where we live, and we usually take the FQMS bus to the medicine faculty to reach our destination. We are really thankful for this transportation method, as it helps us reach our destination quickly without having to endure the hardship of finding taxis to take us to our destination, as it is quite hard, especially in far-away areas like the hospital’s location, which will be unaffordable, especially in Gaza because of financial difficulties. It also helps to avoid waiting for transportation in the rain and late arrivals, which can be troublesome during the winter. Finally, we are grateful to FQMS for the bus presence, as it is a blessing.”

Read about Layla’s experience of the benefits of the FQMS Gaza bus programme:

“The available FQMS-funded transportation made it so much easier for me and for many of my colleagues to get to our training hospital every day.

For one thing, it saved us a lot of expenses that we would otherwise pay for public transportation, especially since most of us students live far away from our training centre.

Another thing is that it made it much easier for me to get to my training hospital on time each day, which is also hard to achieve with public transportation.

Finally, it is nice to have more time around your colleagues on the road, which gives us a chance to discuss and share what we’ve learnt each day.

We are very thankful to the FQMS for their many supports, including transport; I hope this facility will be available next year, as it has helped us a lot through the year!”

“I’m a 4th-year medical student at the Islamic University of Gaza. I would like to thank the FQMS staff. They were kind enough to pay for our transportation expenses, making our lives much easier.

I honestly think that this funding made the majority – if not all – of my colleagues able to get to the European Hospital. It wouldn’t have been possible without it, because other forms of transport are too expensive for us.

In the beginning of my 4th year, my father asked me if the buses we were getting were paid for. I didn’t know back then, which is why I didn’t know what to say when my father said, “I don’t think we will be able to afford your transportation expenses.” Luckily, thanks to your support, this wasn’t a problem.

I am truly grateful for what you have done for us and I hope you continue on doing this awesome act of kindness.”
