Thanks to the generosity of everyone who supported our Ramadan Iftar 2026 fundraiser, The Hanoon Foundation has provided financial support to 20 orphaned medical students from the Islamic University and Al-Azhar University.
Many of these students are determined to continue their medical education despite the loss of their family breadwinner and the significant financial hardship they now face. The support provided through the Iftar fundraiser has helped ease the burden of university tuition fees, allowing them to continue their studies with hope and determination and remain focused on achieving their dream of becoming doctors.

During the 2025–2026 academic year, The Hanoon Foundation continued supporting medical students at An-Najah National University through its bursary programme.
The students were identified and nominated by the Faculty of Medicine based on academic performance and financial need. The bursaries aim to support medical students facing increasing economic hardship and help them continue their medical education during challenging circumstances.
Many of the supported students came from families facing difficult financial and social conditions, including unemployment, retirement, illness, disability, low household income, or the loss of a parent. Several families were also supporting more than one university student at the same time, placing additional pressure on already limited resources.

The Hanoon Foundation has awarded one-off bursaries to four second-year medical students at An-Najah National University and Al-Quds University in the West Bank.
The recipients are high-achieving students who have demonstrated strong academic performance but are experiencing financial hardship. The bursaries are intended to provide targeted, short-term financial assistance to help alleviate immediate pressures and enable the students to continue their medical education without interruption.

My family is very poor. My father has no job because of the war. My sister has autism and needs care all the time. We don’t have money for her treatment.
Also, I lost my cousin in the war. He was shot and started bleeding a lot. There was no hospital near us, and the road to the city was too long. We tried to take him, but he died on the way. I am a third-year medical student. I live with my mother and brother. My father passed away when I was two years old, and since then, my mother has been our sole provider. Dear FQMS,
I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for your generous support. The financial assistance to help me complete my registration at Al-Quds University is an incredible honor and I am truly thankful for your support.
My name is Jafar and I am from a village called Kharas, located in the northern part of Hebron. This support is a significant milestone in my life, and it brings me immense joy and pride.
I intended to earn a full scholarship by excelling in the Tawjihi exams, but unfortunately, I was not lucky. The night before my biology exam, my mother was admitted to the hospital and remained in intensive care. This is because she was pregnant with twins, Hassan and Ezz. Despite these challenges, I managed to achieve an average score that qualifies me to enter the Faculty of Medicine and pursue my dreams. Thanks to my uncle Ibrahim’s unwavering support in Jordan. He was a professor of solid state physics at Yarmouk University in Jordan. Unfortunately, he has passed away, and I cannot support myself financially without him.
We are a family of eleven, with six males, three females, my father, and my mother. My father has atherosclerosis and was hospitalised last month for an aneurysm in the common iliac arteries. He also suffers from diabetes mellitus, hypertension, gout, and other health conditions.
