On 3 December 2023, Nikki Izzadi, together with Rabia Abboushi and Rima Abboushi, organised a community fundraiser in support of The Hanoon Foundation (formerly FQMS). The event gathered family and friends to celebrate Nikki’s birthday with home-cooked Palestinian food, handmade crafts and jewellery, while raising awareness of medical education in Palestine and the importance of supporting future healthcare professionals.

Through the collective efforts of the organisers and attendees, the fundraiser raised £4,203, which has been donated to The Hanoon Foundation in support of Palestinian medical schools in Palestine. The venue also kindly waived its rental fee, further contributing to the success of the initiative.

At a time of significant disruption to healthcare and education infrastructure, community-led initiatives such as this play a valuable role in helping medical students and young medics continue their studies and training.
