“On the 30th of May 2022, Razan, two of our friends, and I conducted a hypertension screening day in downtown Nablus.
We measured the blood pressure of many kind people of different ages and raised their awareness about risk factors, complications, and the relationship between hypertension and various diseases. Some had normal blood pressure, while others had elevated levels, so we advised them to visit primary health care centres for further evaluation.
Some individuals were suffering from high blood pressure but had not been officially diagnosed by a doctor, so we encouraged them to follow up and not ignore the signs. Others had already been diagnosed with hypertension but were not compliant with their medications or dietary recommendations. We advised them to adhere to their treatment, follow a low-sodium diet, engage in regular physical activity, and aim for a healthy weight.
The activity was truly rewarding. We helped a large number of people, answered their questions, offered advice, and corrected some misconceptions. At the same time, we gained valuable experience.
During the activity, we saw love and kindness reflected in the eyes of the townspeople.”
