Little Health Heroes — Health Awareness Day at SOS Children’s Villages
On 14 May 2026, Anas, a medical student from Al-Quds University sponsored through our partnership with Madrinha Trust, organised a health awareness day for children at SOS Children’s Villages International under the theme “Little Health Heroes”. The activity formed part of the students’ annual community and outreach projects aimed at promoting health education and community engagement.
The event was designed to introduce children to healthy habits through interactive and age-appropriate activities in a fun and engaging environment. Throughout the day, children participated in seven themed stations covering hand hygiene, dental health, nutrition, physical activity, emotional wellbeing, environmental awareness, and educational games.
Rather than using traditional classroom teaching methods, the activities focused on participation, creativity, and practical learning. Children learned proper handwashing techniques, healthy eating habits, the importance of physical activity, emotional wellbeing, and environmental responsibility through games, discussions, and hands-on exercises.
The event was very well received by both the children and staff at SOS Children’s Villages. The children were enthusiastic and actively engaged throughout the day, highlighting the value of interactive community-based health education initiatives.
This initiative also reflects the important role medical students can play in supporting public health awareness and community outreach activities alongside their academic training.
