“I am a fourth-year medical student. While I was thrilled to move to the clinical phase, war broke out. It destroyed our university, forcing me to travel to Egypt without my family to continue my studies. I faced a significant problem, as my family could not send me money to cover the basics of life here in Egypt due to the difficult conditions in Gaza. However, I am very grateful to FQMS for their tremendous support. They provided me with the necessary funding at a critical time, helping me overcome these difficulties. Thank you very much to FQMS for their dedicated support in aiding the health sector in Palestine and supporting medical students in this tragic situation. Thank you truly.”

“I am a medical student from Gaza who was forced to leave due to the genocide. Like my fellow students, my educational journey was disrupted, and we lost our universities and hospitals. However, we have not lost hope and are striving to continue our studies. This is where FQMS comes in. As an organisation supporting medical students in continuing their education, FQMS gives us the push to move forward and become doctors.
I extend my gratitude to those who support Gaza and help students pursue their right to education.”

“In the last September, I started my final year as a medical student. I was planning to begin preparing for the next step in my career as a doctor during this year. Unfortunately, the Israeli war on Gaza started, making all of these plans very difficult to achieve. I began volunteering at a hospital in Gaza to help my people. After six months of war, I was evacuated to Egypt, where I felt lost. Many friends told me about FQMS and their support for Gazan students in Egypt. I applied and received the funds, which helped me to settle and continue my journey as a medical student.”

“In September, my father started having some medical issues and had to be hospitalised. After further investigation, it turned out that he needed surgeries (specifically PCNL and TURP). We decided to go to Egypt at our own expense so he could have the surgeries, and we left for Egypt on the 8th of October. Then, the war started.

The original plan was to stay in Egypt for no more than 10 to 15 days, and we took money from Gaza based on this plan. It was slightly warmer back then, so we decided to take mostly summer clothes. I didn’t take anything with me except my phone; I didn’t bring my laptop or anything else. When the situation got worse, we decided to postpone the surgeries to save money.

With this aid, we will be able to proceed with the operations my father needs, and it will help us manage rent, food, and clothing costs. It will put us in a much better financial situation and help me continue my educational journey here in Egypt.

Thank you for your support.”

“I am a student who obtained the Palestinian High School Certificate in 2022 with a grade of 97.3%.

In 2022, I enrolled in the College of Human Medicine at Al-Azhar University, Gaza. I completed my first year at college with an excellent grade. Throughout my studies, I have always been diligent and excelled academically, in addition to participating in many voluntary and charitable activities. I have also obtained several certificates in first aid training. However, with the beginning of the 2023-2024 academic year, the war on Gaza began.

Since the 7th of October, my father has lost his job during the war. He was employed by a company specialising in solar energy and was the sole breadwinner for our family. After I escaped the war and reached Egypt, hoping to continue my studies, my father could not cover the costs of living and renting a house in Egypt. Additionally, we lost our only house in the Gaza Strip, destroyed by the occupation on October 19th.

The financial aid I received will help me with my studies.”

“I am a final-year medical student from Gaza who had to evacuate to Egypt to escape the ongoing war. Last year, after completing my elective in the UK, I returned to Gaza with great plans for my final year. Unfortunately, the war began and turned my life upside down.

Facing numerous challenges to complete my studies, I am also burdened with living expenses. This is where FQMS has been incredibly supportive. Their financial assistance has significantly alleviated my financial burdens, allowing me to focus better on my studies.”
