62- Testimonial from Asmaa

“I’m Asmaa, a fourth-year medical student at Al-Azhar University in Gaza, with dreams of becoming a neurosurgeon. My journey has been driven by ambition and determination, but the recent war in Gaza has shattered my world in unimaginable ways. Amid the chaos, I lost my home, cherished books, and laptop. Everything I had poured my heart and soul into was taken from me in an instant.

The war not only uprooted my life but also left my parents without an income, deepening the wounds of our already difficult existence. Relocating to Rafah was not just a change of scenery; it felt like severing my ties to the future I had envisioned. The grief of losing loved ones, combined with the crushing financial burden on my family, made it nearly impossible to focus on my studies. My dream of elevating the representation of Gaza and Palestine in academic circles seemed like a distant memory, overshadowed by despair.

In those darkest moments, I feared losing not just my belongings but also the essence of who I was—a passionate student eager to make a difference. Hope felt like a fragile thread, ready to snap at any moment.

Yet, amidst this turmoil, I found a glimmer of hope through the generous support of FQMS. Their financial aid has been a lifeline, allowing me to purchase essential materials to restart my studies. This support has not only helped me regain my footing academically but also rekindled my passion for medicine.

With this newfound hope, I am more determined than ever to continue my journey in medicine. I aspire to make meaningful contributions to the field and ensure that Gaza’s voice is heard in academic discussions. The assistance from FQMS has profoundly impacted my life, reminding me that kindness exists even in adversity.

Thank you for believing in students like me and helping us rebuild our futures in the face of overwhelming challenges. Your support has become a beacon of light in my darkest hours, and for that, I am eternally grateful.”

63 – Testimonial from Heba

“Since the beginning of the war, my father has lost his job, and we have lost everything we own in Gaza. After enduring seven months of war and the devastating loss of three of my siblings, my father made the difficult decision to leave and try to save the rest of our family with almost all the money we had. We arrived in Egypt financially and emotionally devastated.

As a third-year medical student studying online, I found it difficult to fully focus on my studies, constantly worrying about our financial situation and the future of my other siblings. Two of them are in their final year of school (Tawjihi), and the absence of schools meant they couldn’t attend classes or afford private lessons.

When I received your financial support, I immediately gave some of it to my father to help with our living expenses, and some to my siblings so they could enroll in private lessons and continue their Tawjihi year. This has relieved me so much, allowing me to focus more on my studies, at least for the next couple of months.

I never imagined I would find myself in a position where I had to worry about how to support my family financially, but life has led us in an unexpected direction. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support, and I hope you continue to support other medical students in need.”

64 – Testimonial from Tareq

“My name is Tareq, a medical student from Gaza. I completed my first year of medical school in Gaza, but the war forced me to leave everything behind and start over in Egypt. Facing the uncertainty of displacement, I was overwhelmed with the fear that I wouldn’t be able to afford my education and might have to abandon my dream of becoming a doctor. The financial aid I received from the Al Quds Foundation for Medical Schools in Palestine was a lifeline. It helped cover a critical part of my tuition, allowing me to continue my studies despite everything I’ve been through. This support has provided me not only with financial relief but also with the hope
and strength to keep pursuing my dreams. I am deeply grateful for this help and sincerely hope that more students from Gaza will have the opportunity to receive similar support and continue their education, just as I have.”
